Christos to take on DC United in US Open Cup

Christos FC,  a four time champion of the Maryland Major Soccer League ('16, '15, '03, and '01), defeated FC United of Chicago in the 3rd Round of the US Open Cup to advance to the 4th round where they will face DC United from Major League Soccer. The match will be played on June 13th at 7:30pm at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, MD. The Maryland Major Soccer League will be purchasing a block of tickets. MMSL managers, players, fans, and supporters who are interested in purchasing a ticket should complete this form.  Tickets are $15.

Stats on Christos FC

Christos FC completed the 2016-17 US Soccer Seasonal Year with a 25-5-0 (W-L-D) in all US Soccer Federation sanctioned competitions that includes the Maryland Major Soccer League, Maryland State Soccer Association Cups (Rowland and Stewart), USASA Region I Competitions (Amateur and Fricker), and the US Open Cup.

From 2015-2017 Christos compiled a 50 match unbeaten streak (49-0-1) in all USSF sanctioned competitions.  Christos however wrapped up the 2017 season with four consecutive losses (L 0-1 vs. AFC Cleveland (NPSL); L 0-4 to FC United (PDL); L 1-4 to DC United (MLS); and 1-1 (2-3 in pks) to Lansdowne Bhoys (USASA).

 

Christos has won the following trophies in the 2016-17 season year- Maryland Major Soccer League Fall 2016 Champ, Maryland State Soccer Association Stewart (Amateur) Cup and Maryland State Soccer Association (Rowland) Open Cup. Christos defeated a strong Yinz FC from Washington, DC's Washington Premier League to win both MSSA State Cups.

Christos FC won the fall 2016 Maryland Major Soccer League championship by going 11-0-0. The defeated Pipeline SC in the semi-finals 2-1 and then defeated Izzee Autobody FC in an exciting championship game 3-2. 

Christos FC has won four Maryland Major Soccer League championships ('16, '15, '03, and '01). The team started in the Maryland Major Soccer League 2nd division in 1997 and won the 2nd division championship that year. In 2007, Christos merged with a club Allied SC and played under the name AC United. The MMSL record books list AC United as the 2007 MMSL champion - not Christos FC.

For the 2015-16 US Soccer Seasonal Year, Christos FC went 29-0-1 (W-L-D) in all US Soccer Federation sanctioned competitions that includes the Maryland Major Soccer League, Maryland State Soccer Association Cups (Rowland and Stewart), USASA Region I Competitions (Amateur and Fricker), and the USASA National Amateur Cup.

In 2014-15 US Soccer Season year, Christos overall record was 10-4-2 in all US Soccer Sanctioned Competitions.

In the middle of the 2015 Maryland Major Soccer League season, Christos FC merged with Maryland Bays. The Maryland Bays were the six time Maryland Major Soccer League champion and 2014 USASA National Open Cup champion. Bays Coaches Bryan Bugarin, Andrew Dicea joined forces with Christos coaches Larry Sancomb. 

*Some outlets have reported that the Werner Fricker Cup was a National Championship cup. USASA, the national governing body stopped financing and running the Werner Fricker Cup after the 2015 competition. The Fricker Cup was continued by USASA Region I. In 2016, the USASA Region I Fricker Cup winner played a representative from USASA Region II. Regions III and IV did not participate in the 2016 Werner Fricker Cup.
