The storied Baltimore Kickers FC club (MMSL Champions 1997 and 1970) won the pre-season charity cup tournament presented by World Class Premier. The Kickers defeated two recently promoted Div. 1 sides to lift the trophy. In the first match of the day, Kickers defeated All Stars United 7-6 in PKs after the match finished full time tied 2-2. Then in the final later that day, the Kickers defeated Columbia FC 2-0. With the victory, the Kickers won the Charity Shield pre-season cup and brought home a check for $2,000.00. Congrats to Fran McGrath, Len Van de graaff and all of the Kickers players and supports. It was fitting the Kickers won a trophy this past Sunday 24 August when just a few days before one of the founders of the Baltimore Kickers and long time soccer ambassador and USASA and Maryland Soccer Hall of Famer Anna Steffen passed away.
