Steel Pulse Maryland Major Champions

Baltimore, MD - On Sunday 8 December, Steel Pulse FC won the 55th fall Maryland Major Soccer League championship defeating 4x defending fall league Champion Christos FC 4-3 in a thriller of a game at Banner Field at Latrobe Park in Baltimore City.  With the victory, Steel Pulse lifted the Steffen Championship Cup and earned $2,500 in prize money.

Christos FC jumped out to an early lead when Maryland Majors fall 2019 Golden Boot winner Jamie Meriam (West Virginia University) hammered home a goal in the 2nd minute on a feed from Alex Lee (University of Maryland). Steel Pulse found an equalizier in the 35th minute on a goal from Salahu Mohammed.

The match would stay tied until Steel Pulse FC pulled ahead in the 67th minute ona goal from Bell Marie. In the 83rd minute Christos FC equalized on a goal from Kyle Sandie. Two minutes later in the 85th minute Steel Pulse pulled ahead again on a finish from Cedric Tschoumkeu Tatchou (Portland Timbers US Development Academy). With Christos FC bombing forward to equalize again, Steel Pulse's Bell Marie found the back of the net again to give Steel Pulse the 4-2 lead. In the final seconds of the match Christos Brian Graham buried a pass from Jamie Meriam to give a final score of 4-3.

Christos comes up just short in their attempt for 5 consecutive fall league championships. Steel Pulse claims their second league championship of 2019 having also won the spring 2019 Maryland Majors.

These two clubs will take a brief winter break and then resume Maryland State Soccer Association Amateur Cup and Open Cup play in the new year. The spring 2020 Maryland Major Soccer League season will kick off on Sunday March 22.
