Maryland Majors side Christos FC won the 2020 Maryland State Soccer Association Amateur (Stewart) and Open (Rowland) Cups pulling off a State Cup double for the 4th time in 5 years.

The State Amateur Cup is the qualifier for the US Adult Soccer Association National Amateur Cup. Christos FC won the 2020 State Amateur Cup by defeating three strong sides from the Washington Premier League (WPL) including K. Crew in the quarterfinals 2-1, Starliners 3-0 in the semi-finals, and 1-0 over rival Yinz United in a competitive Cup final.

The State Open Cup (Rowland) doesn't lead to a national competition (USASA stopped running the National Open Cup after the 2015 event), but leads to a prestigious Werner Fricker Cup held by Region I. The 2020 State Rowland Cup was run as the Maryland Champions League where MMSL fall league play counted towards Maryland Champions League standings and remaining matches were played this winter against top clubs from the WPL. Ultimately, a Rowland Cup final was held where Christos FC defeated MMSL league rival Steel Pulse by a score of 5-0.

Congrats to Christos FC for winning the State Cup double and best of luck in representing the MMSL in Regional play.
